I was born and raised in suburban Long Island, NewYork.Doors and windows were never locked in West Islip. Moms packed lunches for their children in the morning and told them to be home before dark. Everyone looked after one another. Neighbors were addressed as Aunt and Uncle and always treated with respect. My street was heavily wooded and in addition to my playmates, had pet squirrels and dogs to keep me company. A huge treat at the Holidays was visiting Manhattan. Radio City Music Hall, The Rockettes, shiny beautiful buildings, roasted chestnuts and vibrant crowds of people filled my heart with happiness for days.
